Why Make a Crochet Spa Set?

Crochet spa sets are an incredible way to combine creativity and self-care. Here are a few reasons why crocheting a spa set is a project worth starting:

  • Great for Gifting: Perfect for holiday presents, birthday gifts, or as part of a relaxation gift basket. Crochet spa sets are always a hit, and this one is sure to be a showstopper!
  • Sustainable & Eco-friendly: Reusable scrubbies and soap savers help reduce disposable waste in your beauty routine. Plus, using 100% cotton yarn makes these items gentle on the skin and the environment.
  • Customizable: Choose colors and textures that bring you joy or that of a friend!

I’ve created a helpful video tutorial for the cord used in this pattern as well. You can find it on YouTube here.

This pattern is written in English, using US terms. If needed, you can find a handy term conversion chart right here in my Resource Library.

THE SLOW YARN MOVEMENT: I’m participating in the Slow Yarn Movement. There’s far too much to talk about here, but please take a few minutes to learn about what this means by reading the article I wrote about the Slow Yarn Movement as part of my 6-part Sustainable Crochet Series.

The Crochet Loofah Pattern

NOTES:

  • The loofah is worked in a continuous round – including the hanging cord.
  • If you want to make the loofah larger, add a 6th round and work 2 dc into each st from Rnd 5.

Rnd 1: st 25 sc in a magic circle, sl st to close circle [25]

Rnd 2: Make Hanging Cord: (for help, refer to my video tutorial here)

  • From the slip stitch where your hook current is, measure about 25 inches of yarn from your working ball. The end of this 25 inches will now become where you hold your working strand in your hand.
  • Keeping the hook in the slip stitch, take the yarn coming from the sl st end of the long strand and yarn over hook from front to back.
  • Next, yarn over from the working end of yarn strand and pull through both loops on the hook. You’ll observe that the extra 25 inches you’re working with is basically a big loop.
  • Repeat steps 2 & 3 until the entire 25 inches has been used up. Depending on how tight you’re making your cord, it should have between 45-55 chains by the time the loop is all used up. It will eventually bring you all the way around and back down to the magic circle.
  • When you get back to the magic circle, fasten back to the magic circle with a slip stitch in the same place you started the cord.
  • Continue to Round 3

Rnd 3: make 2 dc in each st around the magic circle [50]

Rnd 4: make 3 dc in each st around [150]

Rnd 5: make 3 dc in each st around [450]

Fasten off and weave in end.
