Size & Gauge:

Size: The crochet scarf is written in one size: 48″ long in an infinity circle.

Stitch Multiple: The stitch multiple for this pattern is any combination of 3 + 2. If you’d like your scarf longer for additional room or wraps, simply add foundation chains by multiples of 3 to achieve a larger size.

Gauge: 4 shell stitches x 6 rows of shell stitches in a 4″ x 4″ square (1 Shell stitch = (sc, dc 2)

Yarn:

I used the delicious chunky Malabrigo Mecha for my scarf. It is next-to-skin soft and oh-so-squishy and warm. If you’re using a different yarn, just be sure it is Bulky (5) weight. The scarf requires 260 yards.

NOTES:

The scarf is worked in turning rows; the turning chain does not count as a st.
The scarf is HIGHLY modifiable. If you want it longer, add more chains. The stitch multiple for this pattern is 3 + 2. If you want it wider, add more rows until you’re happy with it!
HOW TO MAKE THE SHELL STITCH USED IN THIS PATTERN: (sc, dc 2) in designated st.

Begin by chaining 146

Row 1: Shell in 2nd ch from hk, sk 2 ch, *Shell in next ch, sk 2 ch, rep from * across, sc in last st, turn

Row 2: Ch 1, Shell in first sc, *sk 2 dc, Shell in next sc, rep from * across to last sc, sc in last sc, turn

Row 3-14: repeat Row 2

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for seaming together. Using the yarn tail and a tapestry needle, seam scarf into an infinity circle along the row edges (narrow edges).
