Free Crochet Scarf Pattern: Beehive Scarf + Video Tutorial

There’s something special about crochet projects that come together slowly — one stitch, one row, one quiet moment at a time. The Beehive Scarf was born from one of those moments. I designed it during a season when I just wanted to create something simple and beautiful — the kind of project that doesn’t ask for perfection, just presence. And I’m so excited to share this free crochet scarf pattern with you!

Inspired by the unique geometry of a honeycomb, this scarf has a rhythmic, slightly textured stitch pattern that’s meditative to work on and easy enough for confident beginners. The name Beehive felt right — a nod to nature, community, and the way creativity can buzz quietly beneath the surface until it blooms into something lovely.

If you’re searching for a free crochet scarf pattern that feels both timeless and fresh, this is the one. Whether you’re making it for yourself, a friend, or as a mindful weekend project, the Beehive Scarf is a cozy, satisfying make you’ll reach for again and again.

🌿 Eco-Friendly Crafting

What makes this crochet pattern eco-friendly and sustainable?

THE YARN: I use only sustainable and eco-friendly yarn that has been ethically grown/raised and processed, putting the people and the planet first. This is why I chose 100% natural yarn for this pattern.

HANDMADE FOR LONGEVITY: Creating your own apparel promotes mindful consumption. This durable, handmade scarf reduces the need for mass-produced alternatives.

THE SLOW YARN MOVEMENT: I’m participating in the Slow Yarn Movement. There’s far too much to talk about here, but please take a few minutes to learn about what this means by reading the article I wrote about the Slow Yarn Movement as part of my 6-part Sustainable Crochet Series.

If you’re interested in learning more about sustainable crochet you can read all about it in the 6-part series I wrote covering everything about Sustainable Crochet and how to implement it into your own crafting starting today!

The Beehive Scarf Pattern:

NOTES:

  • The scarf is worked in turning rows – ch 3 turning ch counts as your first tr of the row, while the ch 1 does not.
  • If your tension is tighter or your treble turning chain isn’t high enough, you may prefer to start your tr rows with a chain 4 (rather than the chain 3). Do what’s best based on your tension to ensure it is the same height as the next tr, but either way it’ll count as your first stitch of the row.
